Summary
Reporting to Projects Team Leader and working closely with the Principal Investigators and Project Leaders, you will play a key role in managing research projects and grants within the context of a research culture with established policies and procedures, vision and values. The major focus of this position is to work with the Principal Investigators and Project leaders to establish the objectives, milestones, and budgets for various research projects and grants, and how the GSC’s Platform Services are best suited to take part in these Projects.
Duties/Accountabilities
- Establishing budgets for research projects, grants, collaborations and core activities
- Assisting with preparing grants, progress reports, statement of work documents, compliance documents, sample status or analysis reports
- Monitoring budgets and expenditures
- Establishing, monitoring, and coordinating project progress, milestones, deadlines and objectives
- Recommending strategies for improving projects management methods and processes
- Liaising with grant/core funding agencies
- Interacting directly with research collaborators or clinical study teams as required
- Performing other related duties as appropriate
Qualifications
While equivalencies will be considered, ideally you bring a degree in Science (preferably Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Computer Science) plus 5 years' recent related experience in project management and/or research development management.
Certification as a Project Management professional will help you make the short list, as will experience in academic scientific research, clinical trials research, biotech or software industry.
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Project is essential and you should have excellent organizational, analytical and verbal and written communication skills.
Successful candidate(s) will be offered positions through Provincial Health Services Authority at the Research Project Coordinator level, which is equivalent to that described above.
Core Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proactive interactions with collaborators are a must to perform successfully in this position. Active participation in laboratory meetings and seminars relevant to the project activities is highly encouraged.

Salary Range:
$67,861 - $97,550 p.a.
The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
Higher salary offers above the midpoint range require additional review and approval.
